Polestar 4 First Look: Enhancing the Car Without a Rear Window

Polestar Unveils Pricing and Features for the Polestar 4 at NY Auto Show

At the New York International Auto Show, Polestar introduced its latest electric vehicle, the Polestar 4, along with its official launch price and key features. Positioned as a more affordable alternative to the Polestar 3, the Polestar 4 aims to be the company's most appealing mainstream offering yet.

Launch Pricing and Models

The Polestar 4 starts at $56,300 for the standard long-range single-motor version, offering around 300 miles of range. The dual-motor AWD variant, providing approximately 270 miles of range, is priced at $64,300.

Exterior Design

The Polestar 4 features a striking profile, with a slightly smaller and more streamlined design compared to its larger sibling, the Polestar 3. The front end is sleeker and less complex, without a front wing like the Polestar 3. The rear of the vehicle is unique, with no rear window. Instead, it utilizes cameras and a rearview mirror with an embedded display to ensure rear-seat passengers have ample room.

Interior Design

Inside, the Polestar 4 offers a spacious cabin with rear seats that can recline, adding to the luxurious feel. The company's focus on sustainability is evident in the use of recycled materials, such as Soft Tech fabric made from recycled plastic bottles. The fixed glass roof is electrochromic, allowing it to switch from transparent to opaque with the touch of a button.

Practicality and Innovation

While the lack of a rear window may seem unconventional, Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath explained that it allows for a more spacious interior and unobstructed visibility out of the back of the car. The company encourages customers to embrace the innovation, highlighting that many cargo vans already lack rear windows.

Conclusion

Although we haven't had the opportunity to test drive the Polestar 4 yet, it's clear that Polestar is pushing the boundaries of innovation in the EV market. With pre-orders opening in April and deliveries expected in Q4 2024, it won't be long before we can experience the Polestar 4 on the road.
